The Developers Speak is a video series featuring certified Salesforce consultants at Digital Mass. They come to you twice a month to help bridge the gap between business problems and technical solutions.
On this episode of The Developers Speak, Donny covers how marketing teams can use email templates in Salesforce Marketing Cloud.
Hi, I’m Donny and I'm a Salesforce Consultant that works with Salesforce Marketing Cloud at Digital Mass in Minneapolis. First, we’re going to talk about how marketing teams can use email components in Marketing Cloud. After that, I’ll show you how to customize the components in the user interface.
Drag-and-drop vs Custom Components
One big benefit of using Salesforce Marketing Cloud is that marketing teams can drive the campaigns themselves. One option is drag-and-drop components that are pre-built, branded, and ready to use. The other option is to create custom components. Custom components are used to create a more complex email design that may require a developer to be reused. They both have pros and cons. It just depends on what kind of technical skills or resources the team has. It also depends on how much flexibility you want to have with the components after they’ve been built.
For marketers with limited technical skills that need to quickly build branded emails or for marketers that just want general consistency throughout email campaigns, pre-built, drag-and-drop email components are the way to go. With the drag-and-drop components, you have the ability to customize, reuse, and repurpose them as needed.
Using Pre-Built Components in Marketing Cloud
Once you have the pre-built email components, it’s fairly simple to work with them in Marketing Cloud. Let’s take a look at the user interface.
You can easily drag and drop your desired components onto your email template. From there, type your copy into a text component and easily customize it in order to meet your brand's expectations, using font color size, and more.
Next, easily configure a powerful CTA with the out-of-the-box button component. Much like the other components, you can easily transform the CTA to match your brand requirements, to ensure it draws attention from your subscribers and helps achieve your email goals.
